Sue Stanton moved to Port Townsend in 2012 from Colorado after a career in primary education. Her love of children and their whimsical perspectives inspire her 3D work. Watercolor and pen & ink is the medium she chooses for her introspective work.
Sue’s initial interest in art was sparked by her grandmother, an oil painter. Her first medium was watercolor, learning independently and through coursework. Her love of drawing incorporated pen & ink into her watercolor paintings. Acrylics offered yet another layer of opportunities. Sue’s husband, a gifted craftsman in his own right, provides “raw material” for 3D work. Sue incorporates acrylic painting, wood burning, wirework and added “findings” to engage the viewer’s curiosity.
Sue’s passion for art is fueled by the balance it brings to everyday life. Sue is grateful for the foundational support of her husband, her family and her community.
